It’s Almost September

We’ve been hard at work here at Team Thyroid in preparation for Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month.  Yes, we actually do know how to work.  And yes, we are going to (attempt) to be serious for the most part.  So here is what our combined evil genius has in store for you:

  • The Pink Hair Project Part 1:  in July, we lost a very valuable  member of the young adult thyroid cancer community.  To honor her memory and the memories of all those who have lost their lives to thyroid cancer, Team Thyroid is temporarily dying their hair hot pink for one day (September 1, 2012) using a wash out hair spray (like at Halloween).  Other people have suggested chalking, wigs, and extensions.  RSVP to our event on facebook, and on September 1st, post a photo of yourself on our facebook page.
  • The Pink Hair Project Part 2:  Cancer Girl is willing to keep her hair hot pink one day for every $10 donated to ThyCa through her crowdrise page.  $300 = 30 days.  And she will have to post pictures to prove it.  If you’re feeling brave enough, you can even join her in her fundraising efforts.
  • The Team Thyroid Fan Store:  we’ve been diligently adding new merchandise and revamping our store to make it easier to navigate.  So stop by today and pick up your Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month or I Support Team Thyroid t-shirt.  From now until September 30, 2012, $2.00 from every item purchased in our store will be donated to ThyCa, Inc. for thyroid cancer research.  Shop for a cause!
  • The Website: our goal is one post a day for 30 days about thyroid cancer.  Every Saturday is a tribute to a thyroid cancer survivor; Sundays are excerpts from Everyday Health’s “A New Normal After Thyroid Cancer”; Mondays are humor days (it wouldn’t be us if we couldn’t poke a little fun at cancer); Tuesdays each founding member will share her personal story; Wednesdays we will present information on the four types of thyroid cancer; Thursdays are a free-for-all (that should be entertaining); and Fridays we are presenting news and advocacy efforts from around the world.

So stay tuned for what we hope is the most amazing Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month in history.  Follow our site, like us on facebook, and follow us on twitter to make sure you stay in the know as we present you with 30 days of thyroid cancer advocacy.
