The Most Common Cancer In Women Is Breast Cancer; But Thyroid Cancer Is On The Rise
The most common cancer in women is breast cancer, but thyroid cancer is quickly on the rise for both men and women in the United States. In fact, the American Cancer Society estimates that there will be approximately 56,460 new cases of thyroid cancer in the U.S. this year. That is a staggering number. That’s 56,460 new survivors — mostly women — facing surgery, radioactive iodine, and the frustrations of thyroid hormone replacement therapy. And that’s just in this country. And that’s just new cases. Which means that number doesn’t take into account the survivors diagnosed with a recurrence this year.
